Like lots of Progress members, I am standing for election this week. I am proud of the work my and other London Labour councils have done in the most difficult of times.

The government has frontloaded the cuts of local authorities in the hope that hard-working Labour councillors would pay the price at the ballot box for its austerity. I think the track record of councils across London shows something very different. Money might have been getting tighter, but our values have come to the fore. Whether it is Southwark creating university bursaries or Islington building more homes, fairness and social justice have been the heart of everything we do. In my own borough, Lambeth, we have opened two new leisure centres and a new library.

Tomorrow, you can maximise the impact you can have. In some places you can not only help us win more councillors but help put the party on the path to victory in the 2015 general election. London has 12 target seats that will each contribute to a Labour majority. In five – Croydon Central, Harrow East, Finchley and Golders Green, Hendon and Ilford North – you will also be helping us to turn the council red. In addition, in each of these seats we will be working to get more Labour MEPs elected. Fingers crossed for Lucy Anderson and Seb Dance in the Euro elections.

If you are based in London, please find below the details of where you can go on Thursday to achieve a double – or even triple – hit for Labour:
