This event is kindly being sponsored by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

The Progress reception has become a key event at Labour party conference, with over 300 guests attending last year. The venue is within five minutes’ walk of the secure zone and free refreshments will be provided.

All grown up: How do we best support our young people for the world of work outside the classroom?

Taking part in the National Citizen Service helps our young people prepare for life outside the classroom. Three in every four young people who take part in NCS say they feel more confident about getting a job after they take part. The panel will discuss this as well as what other skills and support our young people need to thrive.

Phoenix from the ashes: How do we create a new social chapter post-Brexit?

This event will discuss how a new social chapter can be developed to adapt to a labour force that has changed since the 1990’s, and to Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union. Flexible and remote working has exponentially increased and this poses challenges as well as opportunities for EU workers. Yet Brexit means uncertainty for British workers abroad who have chosen to take advantage of flexible working and free movement. A new social chapter to protect workers rights at home, and for our citizens abroad, and a new way of looking at employer- employee relations, is needed.

Post pink bus politics: How does Labour speak to women again?

With the Labour party failing to elect or subsequently select any women to any of the top posts within the Labour party, and the current shadow cabinet not being gender balanced many feel we can no longer be seen as the party for women.
