Ashcroft funding and glossy election materials have become a common feature in Milton Keynes over the last five years. The local Tory association received over £25,000 alone from Bearwood Holdings in the immediate period before the last election. It has been raining money on the MK Tories ever since. According to research by the Independent they got £129,000 in just 2007-08. In return for the cash, we have seen glossy monthly newsletters, expensive looking local surveys (all posted obviously) and even local magazines. If you think that mailing 20,000 residents with a survey costs around £10-12,000 that is a lot of political help.
