Are you interested in raising the voice and representation of BME Women?

Kirklees council currently has no women councillors from the BME community.

Naheed is working hard to put that right. Women from across the region are invited to join us on and Debbie Abrahams MP on Mothers Day to help her campaign, as we seek to increase the number of women councillors. We will be door knocking as a women-only team,and collecting details of Labour voters. No experience needed you can work alongside other women or just come and show your support for Naheed.

Many congratulations to Cornwall Labour party chair, Progress member and former PPC Jude Robinson for her excellent win in this by election, making her Cornwall’s only Labour councillor.  


 

HUMBLEYARD BY-ELECTION, NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

Well done too to Marian Chapman who held her own and boosted Labour’s share of the vote in safe Tory ward, Humbleyard, Norfolk, nearly pipping the Liberal Democrats for second place. Well done to Norfolk’s Labour parties for being unafraid to campaign in solid Tory area. Moredon by-election, Swindon, 4 November 2010

Please make every effort to turn out the Labour vote to ensure victory.

Delivery sessions to take place at the following times from Moredon community centre car park:
Tuesday 2 November, 10.30am and 5pm
Wednesday 3 November, 10.30am and 5pm

Polling day – volunteers wanted to carry out following activities on polling day: taking numbers, knocking-up and delivering Vote Today leaflets.

The committee rooms on polling day will be in the Boundary House pub – please park in the car park and use the back door entrance.

Ladywell by-election, Lewisham, 4 November 2010    

Labour is in a big fight against the Greens in Ladywell so any help that you can give would be very gratefully received! Polling day is 4 November.

The team is meeting at 46 Francemary Road, Lewisham (five minutes’ walk from Ladywell station) at 6pm every weekday evening to campaign, with all-day campaigning 30 October – 4 November. Saturday 23 October will have a street stall 11am – 1pm and doorknocking from 4pm meeting at 46 Francemary Road. Sunday 24 October, 11am and 4pm, meeting at 46 Francemary Road.

Polling day is Thursday 4 November, meeting from 10am onwards at 228 City Road, Hulme, M15 4EA

Kentish Town by-election, Camden, 28 October 2010

Well done to candidate Jenny Headlam-Wells, victorious candidate at the Kentish Town by-election. Progress and many others, including MP Diana Johnson, pictured with Jenny below, were out in force and trounced the Liberal Democrats, who held the seat until this year’s May election.

 


EXETER AND NORWICH ELECTIONS 

Well done to Victoria MacDonald who was victorious in Lakenham ward, Norwich on 9 September 2010. It was great to meet Victoria and, on the doorstep, many of the residents she’ll now be looking after. Well done to all candidates in Norwich and Exeter. Progress were pleased to have helped in Lakenham.



 OTHER BY-ELECTION CAMPAIGNS

Chadwell by-election, Redbridge, London
Well done to former Progress staffer Wes Streeting on his Chadwell by-election win, holding this Labour seat from the former Lib Dem councillor who was bounced into third place

 

Progress were out to lend a hand. Best of luck to Wes and Redbridge Labour party, and well done too to Louise Couling in the Goresbrook by-election, Barking 


Progress have also been out in Crawley, in Frognal & Fitzjohns and Haverstock (both in Camden) and Tulse Hill, Lambeth, for by-elections there. Unfortunately Labour did not win the former, but Ruth Ling was victorious in the latter.
