Well done to Victoria MacDonald who was victorious in Lakenham ward, Norwich. It was great to meet Victoria and, on the doorstep, many of the residents she’ll now be looking after. Well done to all candidates in Norwich and Exeter. Progress were pleased to have helped in Lakenham.
*** Please join the Progress team on 9 September 2010 as we travel to Norwich to help the parties win back key marginals from Tories and Lib Dems. If you’re in London and would like to travel up with us then get in touch with us at [email protected] We will be taking the 8am train from London Liverpool Street up to Norwich on 9 September ***
Please come and help in the elections 9 September 2010
Please help whenever you can in the meantime. Deliveries, foot canvassing, telephone canvassing – whatever you can do will be really welcomed.
And please come to Exeter on 9 September, polling day. The Tories are already out canvassing and we know they will be flooding Exeter with their workers from the surrounding constituencies.
All political eyes will be on Exeter and Norwich* on 9 September as this is when those councils are being forced to hold this year’s city council elections (delayed by parliament until next year) following the judicial review instigated by Devon and Norfolk County Councils.
That’s the downside along with my finding myself running another set of elections, rather than winding down slowly, clearing up and having some time off.
The UPSIDE is that these elections will be looked at as the first real test of the policies of this ConDem government. These elections are covering three key marginal parliamentary seats: Exeter, Norwich North and Norwich South.
With your help we can deliver that verdict from here in Exeter.
We have four Labour seats we expect to hold and four key marginal seats we can gain:
EXWICK Lib Dem majority 20; COWICK Tory majority 39; PINHOE Tory Majority 83; POLSLOE Tory Majority 105.
One Labour gain will make Labour again the largest party in Exeter, two or more will put us on course to run Exeter City Council.
It couldn’t be a worse time of year for a campaign – in August/September.
Please help us out whenever you can.
Thank you for your support
