To further the progressive project, Progress is hosting a political weekend in March 2011 for Labour activists. It will provide the time and space for discussion, to share ideas and learn the skills needed to take the fight to the Liberal Democrat-Tory government.
Winning back Britain
The weekend will revolve around the theme of ‘winning back lost Britain’, bringing together grassroots activists and seasoned politicians alike to map out ways forward and energise the party’s membership.
Shadow ministers Douglas Alexander, Caroline Flint, Jim Murphy, Stephen Twigg, Liam Byrne and Rachel Reeves will lead the discussion on winning voters back. Lord Adonis will be the Gala Dinner speaker.
Special breakout sessions will be kicked off by Labour activists and experts, including Jessica Asato, social media consultant who will speak on campaigning in new media; Luke Akehurst who will place New Labour in the context of the party’s history and values; Progress columnist Paul Richards will speak on the art of writing and delivering a speech, while Progress deputy director Richard Angell will help you navigate the selection process. Matthew Doyle, Tony Blair’s political director, will reprise his popular session given to MPs’ researchers on how to work with the media.
