On the day when two million public sector workers downed tools across the nation in the largest action in a generation, this PMQs was expected to be a lively encounter and by Jove, it didn’t disappoint!

Who won?

The champion without doubt was Ed Miliband with his merciless and cunning use of strikes against Cameron, especially using the example of the teacher who didn’t strike in summer as she then ‘had faith in the government’ who is now striking. Ed, in response to the PM dredging up the ‘strikes are wrong while negotiations are ongoing’ line, stated that the government had said negotiations were at an end, and government hasn’t met unions since 2 November. Cameron weakly tried to dismiss Ed as ‘leftwing and weak’, looking visibly rattled and as red as he described Ed Miliband.  Even his critics on the Twittersphere praised his efforts and ferocity in this week’s joust. To quote a tweeter, ‘he may not be a striker, but he is a fighter!’

Best backbencher?

I would award this to Progress’ very own Kate Green MP, who with a good question raised the subject of an attack on poor as a result of tax credit cuts.

Best question, answer, comment or joke?

The award for this would be Cameron’s gaffe ‘What I would say to his constituent’… Earth calling Mr Cameron, you were asked that question by a female MP, Julie Hilling! HER question about her constituent being made to pay for his mistakes must have really confused our PM!
