In this final period before the general election we wish every Labour candidate and canvasser every luck and hope that the maximum number of votes and seats will be gained so Labour will be returned to government. If getting this Tory government out is not reward enough, in office we can get back to building the more equal, democratic and socially just world we all strive for.
Every door knocked counts, every undecided voter called could make the difference in these final days. Let us make the last five years count and defy our own history and return to power in one term.

It seems that getting rid of this Tory government is not that important to Ed Miliband. Mr.Miliband has made it clear (Friday night’s leader’s debate) that he would rather see David Cameron in Downing St than do a deal with the SNP.
So I hope Labour understands why Scotland is about to desert Labour completely. When Miliband, Curran, Brown and Murphy declare Scottish nationalism as an evil that cannot be reasoned with and yet at the same time continue a long running pact with an Irish nationalist party the SDLP, the repercussions of such blatant hypocrisy will be far reaching. It has to be so. No one or no party can get away with treating loyal supporters so badly.
Murphy is a fool. He seems to think that he can say in the same breath ‘Irish nationalism good’, ‘Scottish nationalism bad’, without Scottish voters saying, ‘what?’. Labour are fools to elect such a man as their Scottish leader. I always thought Miliband was a principled intelligent man. I was wrong. He reacts to the right wing press without thinking through what may result. Labour are about to find out to their cost their ill thought threw knee jerk dealings with what was once Labour’s loyal heartland.
The SDLP believes in a single island state, removing a border.
The SNP believe in splitting this island between different states, creating one.
The SDLP policy is unity by consent.
The SNP policy is to ignore that consent has not been given.
So in other words tom, you agree with murphy; irish nationalism good, scottish nationalism bad.
Lots of people in Scotland have voted SNP a lot of people have not seen labour as the party.
