Who won?
Today was a clear win for Ed Miliband, with his most assured performance since taking over the leadership. Ed was on strong (if predictable) territory in taking the prime minister to task for yesterday’s dire growth statistics:

During the leadership election Andy Burnham advocated a tax on land value to help cut the deficit without hitting the hard working majority. This is a welcome development, both of policy and of thinking; but going further, and linking such a tax directly to mass redistribution, could change social democracy for good.

Tory plans to end secure tenancy are clearly driven by anti-tenant ideology and political manouevring. But estates are not perfect and Labour must think carefully about a progressive set of policies on renting and ownership.
