Hilary Benn heads the line-up of speakers in the second in a series of Progress events this year to discuss the challenges of a third Labour term. The conference, ‘Building a Progressive Britain’, will be held in Manchester on 19 June.
At the four events we are asking party members to focus on closing the inequality gap; building modern public services; strengthening the economy; placing Britain at the forefront of Europe; and democratic renewal.
In Manchester, seminars will be asked whether public services can combine equity and choice, if redistribution is the only solution to inequality, and whether devolution can close the democratic deficit. The event will conclude with a question time session with ministers Chris Leslie, Ivan Lewis and Hazel Blears.
