In May, nearly 2,000 people attended three major Progress events in London: ‘New Labour – Ten Years On’ at the LSE, and Labour’s leadership and deputy leadership hustings, both held in the association with the Fabian Society at the Institute of Education.
Join Progress in June for the final two events in the First 100 Days campaign, which aims to think of policies for Gordon Brown’s opening period in office. The first five events, on education, the environment, inequality, crime and security, and constitutional reform, all attracted very large crowds, so book your place at the final two as soon as you can.
On Tuesday June 12, join Andy Burnham, Minister of State at the Department of Health and Progress vice chair; David Walker, editor of Guardian Public; Stephen Burke, chief executive of Counsel and Care; Jane Roberts, Progress patron; with Baroness Delyth Morgan, Progress vice chair, in the chair, for an event called ‘Labour’s Priorities for Health and Social Care’.
The final event in the series covers one of the defining, vexed areas of Labour’s 10 years in office: foreign policy. Debating Tony Blair’s legacy and whether it is ‘time for a new approach’ will be: Lord David Triesman, the Foreign Office minister; Mike Gapes MP, chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee; and Progress chair, Stephen Twigg, with more speakers to be confirmed. Progress patron Lorna Fitzsimons will chair the event.
